Telehealth is the delivery of healthcare using technology — such as video or telephone — instead of a face-to-face visit. At Love My Health, our practitioners provide telehealth consultations to the same clinical standard as an in-person appointment, in line with the Medical Board of Australia's Telehealth Guidelines. It lets you access GP and psychology services from wherever you are.

What should I do to prepare for a LoveMyHealth telehealth appointment?

Accepted Answer

Find a quiet, private space with good lighting and a stable internet connection, and a list of your current medications, and any relevant test results or referrals on hand. Make sure your device is charged and you've tested your camera and microphone beforehand. It also helps to jot down your main concerns so nothing gets missed during your appointment.

Can telehealth replace in-person visits?

Accepted Answer

Telehealth is a genuine alternative to in-person care for many conditions, but it isn't suitable for every situation. Your practitioner will continually assess whether telehealth remains safe and appropriate for you, and may ask you to attend an in-person appointment with your local GP or Urgent Care department or your local Accident and Emergency Department, if a physical examination or urgent care is needed.

Do I need special equipment for telehealth appointment?

Accepted Answer

No special equipment is required — just a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. Video is our preferred and recommended consultation method, as it allows your practitioner to conduct a more thorough assessment. A phone consultation may be available in some circumstances if video isn't possible.

Can I get a prescription through telehealth consultation?

Accepted Answer

Yes, prescriptions can be issued following a telehealth consultation where it's clinically appropriate to do so. However, whether or not a prescription is issued is always at the treating doctor's clinical discretion, and some medications are not considered appropriate to prescribe via telehealth. Your doctor will discuss the best and safest option for your specific situation.

How do I pay for telehealth services?

Accepted Answer

Payment is processed securely online for you receive the link for the video consultation with your doctor. This is a 100% private service, you will not receive any Medicare rebate and Medicare will not pay for the consultation. As such none of the appointments at Love My Health will be bulk billed

Is telehealth with LoveMyHealth a 24/7 service?

At this stage, Love My Health telehealth services are not available 24/7 and operate within set consultation hours. We're actively working towards expanding to a 24/7 service in the near future, so keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, please contact emergency services (Triple Zero: 000) or your nearest emergency department for urgent medical needs outside our hours.

Our telehealth works by connecting patients with healthcare providers through secure video conferencing or phone calls, allowing consultations and follow-ups from the comfort of your home.

Is telehealth covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

No, telehealth consultations can NOT be covered by Medicare. All consultations fees on Love My Health are all exclusively privately billed. You may be able to get some money back from your private insurer if the telehealth consultation meets their criteria; we encourage you to do your due diligence and to check your eligibility prior to booking your consultation if you do intend to make a claim on your health insurance.  We will be transparent about our fees, so there are no surprises.

LoveMyHealth offers 12 specialist services which includes doctor's consultations, medical certificates, referrals, mental health, health check, online prescription, blood tests, pathology, psychology, weight loss, sexual health and radiology & imaging.

Yes, telehealth services are available for children, and parents or guardians can join the consultation.

What if I need a follow-up appointment?

Accepted Answer

If there is need for a follow up, our doctors will always endeavor to let you know if they feel that you clinical presentation needs a follow up. This will usually be through in person face to face consultation with your regular GP. If during the consultation, you require additional follow up with a service that we can provide on our platform, we will let you know if this follow up is appropriate through our platform. There may be some incidences where our clinician will recommend urgent in face review at the Urgent Care Centre.

What if I have technical issues during my video consultation?

If your video connection drops out or you experience technical difficulties, first check that your mobile or Wi-Fi connection is stable, then reconnect using the same link. Most connection issues resolve quickly this way. If the problem persists, your practitioner may continue the consultation by phone or help arrange a new appointment. Our support team is also available if you need help troubleshooting before your appointment.

Can I use LoveMyHealth telehealth services while i'm traveling?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can use our telehealth services while travelling, as long as you remain within Australian territory at the time of your consultation. You'll still need to provide your current location at the start of each appointment, as this helps our practitioners respond appropriately in an emergency.

You get convenient access to GP, and psychology care without needing to travel or wait in a waiting room, often with more flexible appointment times. Our practitioners are supported by robust clinical governance and privacy protections, and can coordinate your care with your regular GP with your consent, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Before you book with a doctor, you'll be guided through a short red-flag screening tool designed to identify symptoms or situations where telehealth may not be appropriate. If any red flags come up, you'll be directed toward more suitable care, such as an in-person visit or emergency services, rather than being booked into a telehealth appointment. This helps make sure you get the safest, most appropriate care from the start.

Yes, psychology and mental health services are available through Love My Health telehealth. For mental health consultations specifically, a video consultation is strongly recommended, as it allows your practitioner to better observe and assess how you're doing.

You can book an appointment directly through the Love My Health website by selecting your preferred service and an available time slot. You'll be asked to complete a short registration and consent form, along with the red-flag screening tool, before your booking is confirmed.

Yes, your privacy and data security are taken very seriously. All consultations and personal health information are protected in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and your information is stored on secure, Australian-based servers accessed only by our authorised clinician.
